In addition to the four Monkeys already published by The Wrong Shop in 2016, Kamo River is part of the collection of drawings I made during my stay in Kyoto in autumn 2012.
One of the defining characteristics of this collection of drawings is the unique paper size of 53 x 45.5 centimeters which corresponded to the size of my luggage that I carried back to Paris. Indeed, to avoid any risk of damaging the drawings I needed a solution to bring them back without having to roll them, so I drew the picture on composed sheets that could be disassembled to fit into my bag. I composed the sheets in groups of two, three or four, running the drawing from one sheet to another to achieve larger drawings.
The Kamo drawing expresses the horizontality of the Kamo river that flows through Kyoto. The water runs gently down stair like slopes creating a scene of calm and beauty.
For this edition, we decided to frame each print separately to form the triptych which differentiates it from the original piece presented as a single drawing.
