Whether exploring architectural themes, furniture, vehicles or objects, Philippe Weisbecker captures the beauty and poignancy of ‘simple’ structures.
Known for his singular interpretation of structure, often expressed with delicate linework and textural shading, Philippe consistently hones in on the essence of forms. Born in Dakar, Senegal, in 1942, Philippe grew up in France and studied at the prestigious École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Based in Tunisia between ‘66-68, he headed the graphics department of the Tunisian Tourism Bureau. He then moved to New York, where he became a draftsman in an architectural firm - subsequently launching his career as an artist and illustrator at the age of 30.
His work has been featured in some of the most prestigious publications, including The New York Times, Forbes, GQ and The New Yorker. In the ‘90s he gradually shifted from commissioned work to his own creations, gaining a large following in Japan and the US. Weisbecker is currently collaborating on inspiring projects with global design brands.
