Kim Fisher works across photography, printmaking and installation, responding to her adopted city of LA.
Kim Fisher (b. 1973, Hackensack, New Jersey, USA) lives and works in Los Angeles, California. She works across photography, printmaking and installation. Fisher responds to Los Angeles, tracking the city’s culture, weather, and architecture, as well as their various disorienting effects.
Collage is key part of her process – torn edges and fragmented vignettes recur throughout her oeuvre. The sources for these elements range from her own photographs to clippings from newspapers and magazines. Water also forms an important motif across her practice – its reflections, texture and fluidity. These hard and soft elements speak to the materiality of the urban space around her and its ever-shifting atmosphere.
